The Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis

This is a fantastic bag for anyone who feels that the Louis Vuitton Neverfull is too big for everyday use. After the big debut, the hype over the Pochette Métis continued to grow and it became difficult to find these gems anywhere. In anticipation of Spring of 2017, Louis Vuitton announced the introduction of a monogram empreinte version of the purse. Still maintaining LV’s signature monogram, this soft embossed leather is more discrete and elegant.

I don’t think I’ll ever buy the Louis Vuitton Pochette Metis new again. To be honest, I’m such a big fan of buying my designer handbags pre-loved, that I’m not sure I’d buy ANY designer bag new again. Ultimately, my beef with the untreated leather is it’s just really fragile and makes the bag less durable.

On the Pochette Métis, though, you just have the handle and three small tabs . You don’t have to worry about picking up the bag when you have lotion on your hands or when it’s hot out . The construction, size, and versatility of Louis Vuitton’s Pochette Métis makes it one of the best luxury handbags that you can own.

Unlike the iconic Speedy, the bag doesn’t slouch and keeps the shape and no matter how much stuff is inside it’s a beautiful purse. If the handbag is hard to come by, I always add that as a con. I hate it when I decide to buy a bag but can’t because it isn’t in any of the boutiques. I got mine by getting on a waitlist at my local Louis Vuitton. They told me it was going to be 4 to 6 months on the waitlist, but it ended up only being about 2, which was a nice surprise.

The material is supple grained cowhide leather and complimented with shiny gold hardware. The bag itself is a classic messenger satchel silhouette and it comes with an adjustable crossbody strap that is also detachable. The style is very much classic, chic and incredibly versatile and also features a top handle with Louis Vuitton Paris embossed into it.

On the positive side, the Pochette Metis is set up in a way to allow for optimal organization, which for me is always one of the first things I look for in a new bag. The interior layout is quite functional as it’s split into 3 areas.

Naturally, the lighter the shade of the lining, the greater the scope for damage. Bags in Empreinte finish are more vulnerable because their interiors are generally light-coloured, whereas the black microfibre lining of the Monogram Reverse Canvas is more hard-wearing. They also give the satchel individual character so it will strike a chord with those who like accessorising their bags. Understandably, the constant fiddling with the lock is bound to take its toll on the appearance of its fascia which will eventually start developing minor scratches. I have also read on one fashion blog that when the golden metal coating wears off, it begins to show silver undertones – and not everyone likes it. To preserve it, it may be a good idea to leave the plastic protectors on for as long as possible.
